It was a gorgeous spring Saturday. The weather had called for rain, but the clouds were held at bay. It was pure luck that I was able to photograph this wedding: a combination of chance rescheduling, feverish phone calls, and a bit of a wedding fumble.
It has been a dream of mine to photograph at BRICK! at Liberty Station in San Diego, CA and this beautiful couple asked me a week before the wedding to photograph it. I was thrilled. It was a bit of a flurry and stretch to get all of the information on time, but we did it!
The sweet couple had been in a relationship for 10 years filled with ups and downs, but the whole family rejoiced in saying, “Finally!” I felt like that was the theme in a way, with the sweet and simple decorations which added some rustic charm to the vintage warehouse. When we asked the groom what his favorite thing about Loren was he said, “Her, just all of her.” It was so sweet and endearing!
This is one of my all time favorite weddings. I was paid the highest compliment that a wedding photographer can hear, “You are WAY more than just a photographer, huh?” It is true. Your wedding photographer is your shadow on the wedding day!
It was an honor to be given the privileged of photographing Nick and Loren’s special day and cannot wait to hear all about their life together!
Getting Ready Portraits:
Loren wore an organza and lace mermaid Pronovias Bridal gown which was spectacular!! Her hair and make-up were done by who was timely and did an amazing job! She got ready at the Marriot Residences at Liberty Station. Such a beautiful bride and such a sweet person.
The Wedding Ceremony:
Loren wore her something old as a family heirloom ring! Such a sweet way to bring the family into a wedding.
Loren’s uncle Kenneth ushered her down the aisle. It is always such a bittersweet moment. I love this little moment where Loren took a moment for herself and the proceeded down the aisle towards her man.
Such a sweet first kiss!! Simple and perfect!! Their smiles are so lovely!! FINALLY MARRIED!! This family loves to celebrate and can anyone blame them?? Ten Years in the making, MR AND MRS NICK FLORES!! I love the way they celebrated down the aisle. So much happiness!!
The Bridal Portraits:

Loved this handshake between men! Father congratulating his son.
This bridal party is filled with such beautiful people!! But boy can they celebrate!!

The Reception:
They had a simple yet beautiful first dance
The groom’s mother cried as she danced with her baby boy. Opposite Uncle Kenneth and Loren were laughing as they slowly moved across the dance floor.
After the Uncle/Niece and Mother/Son dances. The father of the groom danced with his new daughter and the mother of the bride danced with her new son. When the song ended, they came together in a group hug! It was so touching how happy they are to be one big family!
Bekker’s Catering delighted the guests with slow roasted pork, mashed potatoes and gravy! The food was delicious and perfect for this vintage rustic affair.

I LOVED the toasts that the Best Man and Maid of Honor prepared. The whole room was laughing for about 10 minutes between these two. The Best Man even whipped out a set of Crayola Crayons that were precious to a childhood memory between the groom and his man. The Maid of Honor has a laughing about the journey the newly weds had taken to get to the day they said, “I Do!” Perfectly written speeches are the way to go!
It was so beautiful that Loren danced with her grandfather during the money dance. It is also so precious to be able to get this shot and to be able to give it!! I love how they are looking at each other.
Even the friends got in on the action of the money dance! I am usually not too fond of this particular tradition, but with this family I loved it!! They were so much fun to dance with and everyone had a great time!
Except for maybe the groom, who was turned into a bow/tail wear gentleman by the end of the money dance! He was a good sport though!! Patiently waiting for his guests to make his money tail longer.

After the money dance, it was time for the cake! I LOVED how Loren and Nick decided to go with bundt cakes, especially the mini bundt cakes!! A very unique take on the wedding cake that tends to be more moist than traditional wedding cake.

The bouquet toss and garter tosses were so much fun!! The best part was the the bridesmaid that caught the bouquet is dating the friend who caught the garter!! Do I hear new wedding bells ring??

Almost everyone rushed to the dance floor for the Hustle and the Cupid Shuffle!!

CONGRATULATIONS NICK AND LOREN FLORES!! It was such an honor serving you on the special day and I hope that you love your images as much as I do!!
